Suppressor FAQ

Are suppressors legal in North Dakota?
Yes! Suppressors are legal for hunting and recreational use in North Dakota.

How long does the approval process take?
Approval times vary, but recent eForm 4 approvals have been coming back relatively quickly — often faster than the old paper forms.

Do I need a special license to own a suppressor?
No special license is required. You'll need to pass a background check and complete the ATF Form 4 process.

Can I use one suppressor on multiple guns?
Many suppressors are designed to work across multiple calibers and platforms. We can help you choose a versatile option.

What's the difference between a suppressor and a silencer?
They're the same thing! Both terms refer to the same device. "Suppressor" is technically more accurate since they reduce — not eliminate — sound.

Do I need to bring anything for my appointment?
Bring a valid ND ID with your current address. If you have a concealed carry permit, bring that too.
