New Firearms Law Update: “The Big Beautiful Bill” Signed Into Law
On July 4, 2025, President Donald Trump officially signed into law the “Big Beautiful Bill.” One major provision eliminates the $200 federal tax stamp previously required for owning short-barreled rifles (SBRs) and suppressors.

However, the Form 1 and Form 4 application procedures will remain unchanged. Applicants will still need to submit fingerprints and photographs as part of the process.

This change takes effect January 1, 2026.

Planning to wait until next year to buy a suppressor? That might not be the wisest move. Due to anticipated high demand, inventory is expected to sell out quickly and prices WILL rise after the new law goes into effect.
